DAY 1- 30 Day Writing Challenge

My first challenge comes from the diversely talented lawrenceez– Thank you Lawrence.

I have been set the task of writing a ‘Scenic Description’.

The clouds had washed out, as the night had swept in. Blackness reflecting dully and dutifully on the tide, as the grey sand became washed with bitter foam. The smell of the salt from the sea had lingered on his lips, but he could not taste it. His eyes open, but not seeing the immensity of creation that spread out before him. Miles towards infinite horizons. The universe. The sea. The depths. Oh, the depths. He could ponder those, but no other possibilities were at all present here.

Each wave crashed a beat matching the throbbing pulse that he would seek to cease. Each ebb taking away nothing, and leaving him with burden.

As the wet sand sunk between his toes, he could not feel this. His eyes fixed on the open ocean, gazing into emptiness.

As the wind blew through his hair, he could not sense it. His thoughts attuned to his hard-weathered internal dialogue.

As the water gathered around his ankles, he was not aware. He had already drowned a thousand times over.

If only he could see the magnitude of his final view. If only.

If you would like to help me out by contributing suggestions for challenges, please visit this post and leave a comment there. I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for reading.
