DAY 16- 30 Day Writing Challenge

I was asked by Surbhi Agarwal to write about ‘broken dreams’

I need your help! I have another 14 days left to go on this challenge. Please comment with any suggestions that you have for challenges on here. You could also tweet me @peterwynmosey or follow my Facebook

Not in sleep, but in the moments and hours between; I waste valuable seconds, minutes, and months on feeling instead of doing. Imagined futures and projected fantasies that come to nothing permeate the fog of a life lived in some half-awake state. Did everything pass me by while I statically daydreamed? Or was it all an illusion? Flickering and fleeting. No real prospect.

Broken dreams of faraway places tainted by the cruel light of day. Harsh realities hammer hard at youthful wants and wishes.

What next? Clawing at the remnants of fading memories. Holding onto the thoughts that drift through a semi-conscious mind as it debates sleeping forever or coming back to life. Trying to hold onto a dream, like fishing for clouds. Watching these thoughts fade out of view as the cold logic of the day starts to file in.

And that’s the way life goes. Panning out to an infinity of empty promises that we make ourselves. With no means of delivering these non-existent truths, we pine our lives away. But it’s time to wake up to the fact that our dreams were dreams and never destiny.
