Here’s a very short poem called “That’s when I see you” that I wrote for this week’s Peoplespeakup. I’m not a very good listener. I am not very good at paying attention. But it is a skill that I want to learn. How good are you at seeing and hearing other people? What advice would you give to someone who finds this so hard like me? Let me know what you think about the poem.
I didn’t hear you
I spoke too loud
I didn’t see you
I looked through you
Too often,
you’re a fixture in my life
Too often,
you’re just there.
We’ve set in motion an ocean
of distraction
a complex choreography
of near misses and collisions
and then we crash
with tremendous spark
And only then,
that is when
I see you
