Blog writing is becoming very popular and it’s no surprise when you think about the benefits it brings. When you run your own blog you have a platform to share your opinion and grow an audience which you can communicate with. When your blog is successful, you will have the chance to bring in some revenue from it, which for some is enough that they become a full-time blogger and blog writing is a fun hobby to have.

Starting up your own blog is a lot easier than you may initially have thought, especially now there are many website builders which you can sign up for and use their templates, meaning no coding knowledge is needed. With a few clicks of a button, you can have your own marketing blog, fashion blog, fitness blog, photography blog – the list goes on.

To help you get started, we have put together a quick guide on starting up a blog. Hopefully, there are a few useful tips that you can use when starting up your own.

Social Media Channels

All the most successful blogs have a good social media presence. When running a blog, it’s important you have a few social media channels to help you grow. You’ll use these channels to share your articles, communicate with your readers and increase the number of people who have heard of you. The trick is to find a good balance and not be signed up to too many channels, otherwise, it can be hard to keep on top of things and more of your time will be on generating social media content instead of blog content. To help you with your social media you could use an AI automation agency, as they will be able to help you with images, videos and writing social media captions.

Website Created

You can’t write about starting a blog without mentioning your website. Your website has to be good as this is your offering. The best thing to do is look into a drag-and-drop website builder that has templates which you can use, this way you can simply get started and publish articles. Then as you grow, you could hire a freelancer to work on your site or a website agency. If you have the budget and want to get someone to do it for you, then an agency would be your best option as they will have many years experience of producing high-quality blogs.

Content Plan

Having a content plan will help you be consistent with your blog articles as well as know when your content is going to be published. You could create a content plan using spreadsheet software, such as Google Sheets or Excel. Alternatively, there are several online apps which you can also use to create your content plan. When creating the plan, remember to include key dates, such as Mother’s Day or Christmas, this way you can tailor the content you are writing to the time of the month.

Advertising Strategy

We mentioned above that when you run a blog, there is a chance to bring some revenue from it. In simple terms, the more viewers you have, the greater the revenue opportunities you will have. You can make money from affiliate links, sponsored posts, sponsored competitions and display ads, such as Google Ads. You will also have brands contact you directly to work with you and advertise their products, this is where you will make more money. It’s useful to have this in the back of your mind when producing content, as further down the line, there may be a way for you to monetize it.

When you start to monetize your blog, this is when it’s advised you create a media pack. A media pack will have all your stats and you can then send this to brands so they can learn more about you and who you are. Your media pack should be easy to understand and interesting, so that they are more likely to work with you, over a competitor blog.

The best advice we can give when starting up a blog is to write about something you are passionate about and to be consistent. When both are your driving force, then you are very likely to be successful with your blog.
