How to Get the Content You Deserve

content you deserve

If you want great content at an amazingly low price, where do you turn? There are lots of avenues that you can go down to find content writers these days, but which option is best for your business?

On the one hand, you’ll want your SEO content at a good price, while on the other hand, you’ll want something that is interesting, readable, and factually correct. As a business owner, you’ll want content that converts.

Let’s explore how to get the content that you deserve.

You Want Content, But You’re Not Willing to Pay

Think about the content that you want and what you intend it to do. If you’re looking to generate leads based on a blog post or web copy, how much business are you hoping to attract?

Imagine you pay for a piece of evergreen copy for your site that you hope will drive leads to your door for several years- is that not worth paying for?

Low-balling a writer on a site like Fiverr is not going to get you the content that matches your intentions. You will get what you pay for. If a writer is willing to take the work for a low price, chances are they are going to be overworked.

Think about it, if you’re expecting them to work for peanuts, how many jobs are they taking on to cover rent?

The work that they turn out for you will likely be rushed and full of errors. You’ll be lucky if it’s been researched at all.

Going to the Content Mills

Content mills are like farms full of writers. They usually turn around copy in a matter of a couple of days and very often it’s for a great price.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?

Unlike using sites like Fiverr, you’re not paying a pittance and expecting Shakespeare. You’re paying a bit more- and you should expect more.

Now, I’ve worked for several different content mills in my time. Many new freelance writers cut their teeth in places like this. Writers get regular work and without having to worry about self-promotion.

To reiterate a point I’ve already made, you’re paying a reasonable rate for the product that you’re receiving, so the product should be good, right?

Wrong!

Less than half of the money you spend goes to the writer. Often, it’s even less than that.

Many content mills pay their writers by the word. This is often pence per word.

During hard times, I’ve been paid as little as £5 for writing a 500-word blog post. That’s £5 for researching, writing, editing, and proofreading an article. Given the time that you’d expect to write that, it’s not even minimum wage.

To put that in perspective, to earn the minimum wage, I’d need to complete the entire job in 43 minutes.

All of this means that the quality of the content you get as a buyer will be severely diminished. While you should pay for what you get, you won’t if you buy content from one of these writing farms.

Some content mills are great though. They encourage their writers to develop and build a supportive community for them where their talents can flourish. This type of content mill will generally pay their writers slightly better, and as a result, you’ll get good content.

I’m not here to point the finger at any company that does this in particular. But you’re always going to be better off dealing with a writer directly

Getting the Content You Deserve

Of course, there is a better option when it comes to getting the content you deserve. Cut out the middlemen and go straight to the writer.

By working directly with a writer, you’ll know that the person creating your product is getting paid a fair rate, you can build a relationship with the writer and build up a relationship, and ultimately you’ll get a better quality of content.
