How To Keep The Workplace Productive During Office Renovations

Office renovations don’t have to be a sign for everything to go to pot. Productivity is bound to decrease when you’ve got builders, painters, and who knows who else coming and going all the time. In fact, most of your office – or the entire space itself – could be rendered unusable during this time, so how do you stay on top of things and keep productivity ticking over?

Hire Demountable Homes

Demountable homes are designed to give you a reasonably spacious structure that can be picked up and moved when you’re done with it. Already, you can see where this idea is going in terms of keeping up productivity. Move everyone out of the office and into one of these portable structures instead. You may need a few to accommodate everyone, but demountable homes hire isn’t hard to come by, and you have the flexibility to choose the size, shape, and so on.

This has the benefit of getting rid of anything that might be in the way of the people conducting renovations. They should be able to finish your office sooner than if they had to work around your employees. All the while, you’re basically still in the office setting, just in a smaller, more temporary place. Work carries on as usual, so there’s nothing to worry about.

Only Work Remotely If It Makes Sense

The mistake many business owners make in a situation like this is that they automatically switch to remote working. This works for some businesses, but if you rely on effective communication between different teams, then it’s not always the best idea. You should only work remotely during office renovations if it a) makes sense for your business, and b) won’t last for that long.

Don’t force remote working just because it seems convenient: it can actually be one of the worst things for productivity, particularly if your employees are used to working close together in the same office.

Plan Around Your Renovations

Let’s be honest, office renovations don’t usually come out of the blue. You plan them months in advance, which means you can also plan your business around the renovations. Focus on working extremely hard in the weeks leading up to the renovation start date so you can get most of the tough work done ahead of time. This gives you less to do during the renovations, so the need to be productive decreases.

Ultimately, you prevent a situation where the renovation start date kicks in, and you’re suddenly thrust into the busiest period of the year. Factor this disruption into your business plans so you can get ahead of work and leave yourself in a position where you don’t need to work at full-tilt.

The whole idea of an office renovation is that it improves your business workplace, which could actually mean you return to work and feel even more productive due to the new setup! It is, understandably, easy to see a drop in productivity while this happens, but the ideas above will help you handle a tough situation without it costing your business dearly.
